Demonstration: The "etching" process

I finally posted some photos on flicker to show you how I do my etched focals and bead sets.
You can see the photos and my notes here: Demonstration of the "etching" process

It shows how I went from this:

to this:

You can see more of my etched beads on flickr.

  1. What a wonderful way of working! I'm just beginning to use polymer so still very much in the 'learning' stage, but I am soooooo going to try this....ummm, once I've got more than three colours in my clay palette! Thank you so much for sharing.

    Kate :-)

  2. Thanks for sharing. Great demo and you are a great artist.

  3. This is so cool! I was wondering how you got the color in the clay to look like a shape of a rose or leaves or something. Now I see that you let the clay speak for itself...then you carve. I like this!

  4. I think it's incredibly generous of you to share your technique on Flickr-- great shots and very inspiring! I especially love the faux bois and the fish-- ah, the fish!! You remind me a bit of Carole Blackburn but it's all your own! Great stuff, glad I found you.
