Mokie in the Wilds and weekend beads

My good boy Mokie is coming to the end of his nine lives due to intestinal cancer and failing kidneys. He's been slowly losing weight for the last few years but it didn't slow him down or cause any trouble. The weight loss accelerated recently and he's a skinny old man now, only half his former weight. Medication has eliminated his daily vomiting but the steroids don't seem be helping him gain weight, even though they have increased his appetite. He's always been an indoor cat but the weather was so nice today that I took him out into the yard to get some sunshine and inspect the flora. After a while he decided to rest under an evergreen shrub.

I stuck around the house this weekend to make sure he was okay and made beads. Surprise, surprise!

  1. Oh Mokie looks sweet resting there.I'm sure he has a very happy life with you. Still, my heart goes out because I know how much one can love a pet. How old is Mokie?

On the bright side...you have created really beautiful beads this weekend! (What a great outlet!!!)

  2. I'm sorry to hear your loved pet is not well, he looks as though he really enjoyed his outdoor sojourn.
The beads are glorious, especially the three in the top photo. Love the carved ones as well, they make me think of the "Lion King".

  3. Hi Penny,
Mokie will be 16 in September. He was a stray and I got him when he was about 9 months old.

  5. So sorry to hear about your kitty. I love that he got to spend some time outside. Now he'll probably want to go out again.

I LOVE your work. I am a new clayer so I have a ton to learn. Would you be able to do a tutorial of your pastel beads? Is the black an underlayer of the softer pastels?
